LUCERNE VALLEY — Sheriff’s deputies and San Bernardino County Fire Department officials were investigating a home on High Road Tuesday evening after a man told St. Joseph Health, St. Mary staff he was making a bomb when it detonated and burned him last week.
San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Cindy Bachman said the man was admitted to the hospital around 3 p.m. Aug. 19 with burns. While he was there, he told the hospital staff that he was burned when the bomb he was making detonated.
The medical staff contacted the Sheriff’s Department who arrived at his home in the 9900 block of High Road around 3:20 p.m.
Firefighters were on the scene for fire protection, but no immediate threat existed. Authorities said that no arrests were made at the time but the case was forwarded to the District Attorney's office for review.
